Basically, if your physics calculus take less time that the unrelated part of the skyrim main loop, it doesn't slow that loop anymore; if it takes more time, the Skyrim exe will wait for it, still it's way less fps lost than running them one after another.

Hdt-smp is very hard on the framerate. Even with fsmp expect major slowdowns in areas where there are lots of people that all have smp. Theres some mod that grants spells to switch people between smp and cbpc. Maybe it comes with cbbe-3ba?.
